I like producing because it’s about puzzles. Logistics become their own story when it comes to the people, places, and things that solve them.

For the Canada portion of the Birkenstock shoot there were several challenges. We had only 1 day to get the shots we wanted in difficult terrain. Filming on location in Kananaskis Provincial Park (Canadian Rocky Wilderness outside of Canmore Alberta and Banff) presented challenges around cell service, crew availability, and even grizzly bear safety procedures🐻.

In the weeks before the shoot our director, Amar Chebib, DP Daryl Hefti, and I spent hours pouring over Google maps walkthroughs to pre-scout our locations in advance so we could use our scout day for pickup shots, then after the scout we climbed Ha Ling Peak as the sun set with our drone op and mountain safety guide.

The next day was spent in and around Canmore on stretches of wild and ranched land within the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
